Canon 600D/T3i issues

We have had some rare reports from Canon 600D/T3i users that have experienced unexcpected shutdowns of camera's LCD screen while operating with LCDVF. As it might be a case of conflicting physical properties of the camera and the LCDVF (yet to be determined), it still often comes down to a software configuration issue. Nevertheless, please test compatibility of 600D/T3i and LCDVF, if possible.

When talking software, the LCD blankout problem can be eliminated as follows:

  • Turn the mode dial on the 600D/T3i to the "M" position;
  • Push the menu button and scroll right to the second setup menu (indicated with yellow wrench icon, as pictured);
  • Scroll to "LCD off/on btn." and set this to: "Shutter btn." - notice that shis should be the factory default setting.

Also notice that camera autofocus mode was set to "QuickAF".

If still unsuccesful, try to experiment with different "LCD off/on btn" settings and make sure the camera isn't set to power itself down within 30 sec.

We have tested Canon 600D over the past 8 months on our different production series and this procedure has enabled all of the 600D/T3i cameras to work with LCDVF products just fine. In case you have any further problems, please contact us directly by an email or dropping a comment below.

NB: This procedure can be found in the user manual on the top of the page 179. See also the pages 47 and 167 of the online user manual.

Good luck!
